  • GREENHOUSE GAS Direct burial of coffee grounds (and most food waste) produces the greenhouse gas methane CH4, which has a cumulative 100-year greenhouse effect 25 times that of carbon dioxide CO2.
  • DETORESTATION Significant use of virgin wood pulp paper in existing packaging and components
  • PLASTIC WASTE Plastics are also heavily used in existing packaging and components

Why choose coffee grounds, and what is their role?

As a typical food waste, coffee grounds, like many other food waste products we generate daily, if not properly buried, can continue to release methane gas (CH₄) from landfills.

In A’GAIN’s aromatherapy products, we have conducted in-depth research on the ecological value of coffee grounds. The coffee grounds are regenerated into a genuinely effective ingredient in the target products, a “Palpable Active Ingredient,” rather than just serving as a symbolic, environmentally-friendly component.

For example, in the Recoffee aromatherapy candles, slow-cooked coffee grounds are used to balance the fragrance and absorb unpleasant odors, while coffee grounds in the soap serve as a body scrub component.

How do we achieve overall product sustainability?

We take a hands-on approach to verify that all aspects of our products, from the outer packaging to the internal components, are made from recycled or recyclable materials. To achieve this, we collaborate with our final assembly unit to help assemble each sustainable component we individually introduce into the product.

Scent Duration and Diffusion Effect of Aromatherapy Products:

Recoffee Candle: When not lit, the fragrance lasts for up to one month. When lit, it can burn for up to 35 hours, with a scent diffusion range of 30-40 square meters.

Recoffee Aroma Tablet: Once the kraft paper packaging is opened, the fragrance lasts for one month. To enhance the scent, you can break along the grid lines on the tablet to release more fragrance.

Product Shelf Life and Recommended Storage:

The shelf life of all products is three years.

Recoffee Candles and Aroma Tablets should be stored in a cool, dry place to avoid high temperatures that could cause the wax to melt and accelerate fragrance evaporation. When not in use, you can cover the candle with the paper lid to prevent essential oils from evaporating and to keep it dust-free and aesthetically pleasing.

ReCoffee Scrubbing Goat milk soap is a glycerin-based soap, and in high-humidity environments, it may develop moisture beads. This is not a quality issue. Please store it in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Recoffee Candle Lighting Instructions:

Try to keep the wax surface level (to prevent wax from dripping down the sides). Burn the candle for 1-2 hours until the surface is fully melted and the wax pool is completely formed. If the burn time is too short, a “memory ring” will form, causing the candle to burn only around the wick and leaving the edges unused, which results in waste. Do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time. If you wish to continue using it, extinguish the flame every 4 hours, trim the wick, and relight the candle.

Before extinguishing the candle, use a tool to dip the wick into the wax pool to reduce smoke. Do not blow out the candle with your mouth, as this can damage the candle and produce black smoke, turning the fragrance into a burnt smell. If the wax is less than 8mm deep, do not extinguish the candle—wait for the wax to fully burn out. The container can then be used as a decorative item.
